According to a new report by Rabobank from May 2023*, the global avocado production and trade have rapidly expanded over the past decade. According to the report, attractive product qualities have driven demand, while profitability has incentivized increased production. The global avocado production expanded at an annual growth rate of 7% during the past decade, to over 8.4m metric tons in 2022.
Mexico is ranked 1st in avocado production, and Colombia and Peru are following it. The other countries in the top ten rank are Indonesia, Dominican Republic, Kenya, Brazil, Chile, Israel and Ethiopia.
